Not Your Superwoman

But I can be Wonder Woman

So as always, I've been busy with life and decided to take it a bit easy this week. After all, the little one is sick and I am fighting off her germs like the woman I am. I'll be on Facebook and floating about the Twitterverse in the meantime so feel free to join me. Don't worry, I'll post tomorrow but with a 2 1/2 year old coughing, crying and begging to be carried, blogging just isn't an option today (or in the AM, expect delays).

Style Stealin': Ms. Olsen

source unknown (please correct if need be)

I'm so glad the twins have been over that beggin'-for-change look. At this point, I'll rock anything these girls would wear or endorse. They serve up some great style inspiration.

I was not paid to say these things but if Elizabeth and James or StyleMint want to give me a job, I'll take it. Just saying'.

Head Over Heels

Is that gloss wand lighting up?

Wowza, what a color?!

I just want to kiss it!

Super excited to be sharing this with you. So while at Hispanicize I was approached by Artistry Beauty. Anyone who knows me, knows that make up is the key to my pretty little heart so they basically had me at hello. I was lucky enough to go home with more goodies than I can be thankful for. A bit overwhelmed and excited to get home and try everything, one item stole my heart instantly. I'm head over heels with the light up lip gloss.

This magic little number has an  LED light as well as a mirror for easy application. You know for applying when at the club, or sitting in the dark putting your two year old to bed as is my life. Anyway, the best part, CRAZY amounts of shine just the way I like it. One thing they don't mention is the tingle you get when applying. Maybe that is because of the scent, plumping agent or something I do not know. It doesn't burn but slightly tingles. I love it. Either way this gets my "sealed with a kiss" of approval. Pucker up like me HERE.

* I was not monetarily compensated for this post. I did receive products as mentioned in the post. Artistry Beauty is only sold through your Amway Independent Business Owner. Gloss in post is Passion (go figure)

Wrap Up

I came back from Miami ready to take on the world and what I found was a hectic and very full schedule. I guess that is what happens when taking on the world right? I started off with the TopShop party hosted by CS Magazine, Amy Creyer and Tres Awesome last week. What was really awesome was pulling out my vintage hot pink maxi dress and rocking it in my town! I, of course am so Chicago that I had no choice but to pick up a few black pieces and funktified accessories. Yes, I just made that word up.

Funktified: Something that had been made funky or whatever. Moving on.

I got to meet the uber talented and oh so young Luis Torres looking fabulous in this bright get up and Furla Candy Satchel. The best part though is shopping while Dani Deahl spins. She is my total girl crush. She is sexy, talented and a Chicago girl! Check out the song I cannot get out of my head thanks to her at her fan page.

I ended up this weekend, like I do most weekends doing make up events around my city. Here I am with Sara, who is working on a super cool side project with me. Stay tuned. Now it is time to take a few hours for me and catch up on Grey's Anatomy. Don't judge.  How was your weekend?

Hair All About It

Let's talk hair ladies. I know it is not a topic I've discussed much and when I do I am praising the classic bun out of sheer laziness and calling it chic. Don't get me wrong it is but sometimes we need more. After all, a woman's hair is her best accessory. While in Miami, I had the pleasure of meeting celebrity hairstylist, Leonardo Rocco and learn about Suave's new Keratin line. His accent was enough to make the other ladies in attendance fly out of their seats when he asked for a volunteer. When he mentioned he thought a woman with short hair was sexy, I couldn't resist asking for a pixie cut. He then shared with us a few tips for beautiful hair that actually work. Here are a few of my favorite.

The Wash:

-Wash your hair no more than 3x in a week so the natural oils can nourish the hair. If the scalp gets oily use a dry shampoo to give back bounce in between washes.

- When in the shower, wash and repeat. The first wash gets rid of dirt, the second treats and softens the hair.

- Conditioner should be applied from midway to roots (not all over the scalp) and massage so the hair cuticle seals.

- Rinse with cold water. Again, this is to seal the ends. Personally, I don't get frizz when I do this.

The Set and Style:

-For curly styles add styling creme, use a wide tooth comb and WALK AWAY! The more you mess with your hair, the frizzer it will be.

-If you plan on straightening your hair as I do, use a heat protection product.

-Finish by warming up roughly 2-3 drops of shine serum in your hands and apply midway to roots only.

I was lucky enough to get to try the Suave Keratin shampoo and conditioner and I followed these tips to the penny. My hair looks great and without a salon visit! For those that know Spanish, he tweets in it (melts off the chair), be sure to follow @leonardorocco and of course if you are ever in South Beach swing by Rocco Donna Salon for a little taste of heaven.

I was not paid to endorse this product or the salon. I did receive products to test out from Suave. All opinions are clearly my own. As always, I practice what I preach.

The Wow Factor

So I have had some AH-mazing opportunities but featured in Latina.com? Latina magazine is a magazine I read on a regular basis and never thought I would be featured on their website but I was. I had no idea what was in store for me when attending Hispanicize this year for the first time but I can say meeting Dan Koday from Latina was one of the many highlights. Be sure to check it out for yourself at www.latina.com

Maternity Style {April}

So after returning from Hispanicize in Miami (so much to still share), I went through my blog to review a few things discussed during the conference and found that I promised a monthly maternity post in honor of my sister in law. She will be 20 weeks on Thursday and carrying baby Aiden, the first boy on my side of the family. I love him so much already. Here a few items I think she could wear now and after birth. Welcome to April.

- A Striped Sweater adds chic to any look and I love it that it is lightweight.

- Leggings in a variety of colors are a great alternative to belly bands and maternity jeans.

- As women we feel frumpy at times during this stage in life but this necklace and this arm party is mood boosting. So is chocolate by the way.

- These Booties are fun and very Coachella, it was a thing of the moment. When I search for them found them to actually be called The Coachella Bootie, just goes to show how great Opening Ceremony is.

Chloe bag...'nuff said.

Another option would be this line here. I am so in love with all the pieces.

My Insta-Weekend

www.verypashmina.com

Carol Wood-Lone @VeryPashmina shoot w/ @rhanel

Lovely Springtime flowers

She was saying cheese and happy to have cleaned house at the egg hunt.

I eventually punched the bunny in the gut simply because he scared my kid and it was funny.

I am officially a cell phone photographer with my instagram app. Real photographer Rachel Hanel isn't a fan of my title but she put up with my goofiness (like always) at the photo shoot on Saturday for www.verypashmina.com as I style a million scarves! Okay just a few but it usually is a million. I plan on picking up a few for Mother's Day. Sunday, I kept snapping away as my little one enjoyed some Easter fun. Be sure to follow me on Instagram ( yanirag23 ) as well as Twitter this week as I leave for Miami on Tuesday for Hispanicize 2012 and I'm bunking with some super fun blogueras (bloggers)! Stay tuned...

Wardrobe Emergency

I don't usually post on Saturdays but someone had a wardrobe emergency! My cousin Eve bought a pair of shoes and needed wardrobe suggestions for a party today. So here you go Eve, have fun!

The Emergency

When all else fails, even a simple little black (or navy) dress will do!

Frugal Friday: A Watch to Love

I've been wanting a watch to wear with my gold jewelry for a while. Then while browsing through my new  Lucky Magazine, I saw an ad for bcbgeneration featuring this watch and I fell in love. Seriously for only $60, I would be crazy to walk away. Next stop, the store.

What to Wear Where: The Coffee Date

So one of my darling readers is getting back into the dating game and has asked for advice on what to wear. In all honesty, it was her original comment that keeps me doing these "What to Wear Where" posts, so thank you to you, I have so much fun putting together style inspirations! Now, back to the date... it is a coffee date so in all honesty, it is really about conversation, what you wear doesn't matter because he is interested in what you have to say! That so far is a good sign. Yes, the girl who hasn't been on a first date in 9 years is giving advice, (don't) sue me, first dates are not my forte but style is! Be comfortable and keep it simple yet fun. Nothing screams high maintenance like a woman in heels at a coffee house, I've seen them. Play with small splashes of color and go light with the make up, up the amp on your lashes and shine that pucker, conversation means focus on the lips. Oh and easy on the espresso. I'm a chatterbox as is, can you imagine me with 3 cups of espresso?! Don't. You'll have a heart attack.

Still Simple {Outfit Post}

My goal for April? Working on not really adding anything "new" to my wardrobe that is not either  on super sale (as in 70% off), consigned or thrifted. I've been busy playing mix and match with my existing pieces but if you like the look, I found some similar pieces and added the links.

Para el mes de Abril no pienso comprar nada que no este en especial de 70% o mas or de tienda de segunda. En mientras también estoy mezclando las piezas que tengo y si te gusta el look, encontré piezas que parecen a la venta ahora.

Sweet Delays

So the manicure of the month is a bit delayed. Life is happening as we speak and I'm working hard on a new project and my nails are not even painted. I'll try to share by end of day if not tomorrow. Yes, I will share the project once it is ready.

Mi esmalte de este mes esta tarde. Estoy trabajando en un nuevo proyecto y mis unas ni están pintadas. Vamos a ver si estoy lista ya para esta tarde o si no pues el color del mes va tener que esperar hasta mañana.
