Yesterday {personal style}

 shoes: JcPenny | jeans: Express | shirt: Sears | vest: Beacon's Closet (Brooklyn) | pashmina: THS

Laundry, writing, gift wrapping, yesterday was a busy day. Then after "play" school, my little one insisted we go to Target and get a brand new dress for her Holiday concert that took place last night. She said she needed to look beautiful because she would be on stage and famous then refused to take it off when we got home and almost went to bed with it on. Diva.

My Kid has Style {Personal Style + Kid Style}

jacket: Guess | dress: BB Dakota via TJ Maxx | leggings: Target (on sale now $5) | shoes: Prada

I had no clue what to wear on Thanksgiving. I knew leggings would be a great choice since I love to eat but the way I had been feeling the last few days prior to, I knew I wouldn't eat much. In fact, I decided on my outfit at the last minute since the outfit planning when into high gear just the day before and the only person I was worried about was the cutie pictured below.

I found this corduroy skirt for $4.50, the top and tights for $5 and her shoes we bought earlier on in the season all from her favorite place to shop...Target. I actually spent quite a bit more but I basically cleared the clearance rack of all 3T and 4T, I just love their kid's fashions.

Disclaimer: Ignore the poster on the floor, it should have been hung by my husband but he gets too busy laying on the couch to actually hang ANY artwork in our new place. Also, our camera is still ugh so for now, iPad pics will have to do.

UPDATE: My husband has since hung this poster up and all artwork that I had found room for. Then he went back to the couch. ;)

What To Wear Where: The Park

Mom's style: top | pants | watch | shoes
Baby style: dress | bag | shoes*

I promised my daughter a trip to the park after work this afternoon so hopefully the rain stays away. Funny thing is as I was catching up on my favorite blogs I came across a beautiful look for mom and baby for the park just last night and so I felt inspired. Hop on over to Oh Joy to see their look for going to the park. It is adorable. Meanwhile, here we prefer Chuck Taylor All Stars.

*She actually picked out her outfit so this is as accurate as can be!

Baby Style

Baby Style

Analiese is in need of more "going out" clothes, you know, for all the times my toddler goes out to party. She has tons of super cute casual clothes to wear on playmates and to visit family but she needs more fancy frocks for birthday parties and "fancier" activities. I was able to pull a look together from River Island for my little princess. The stroller of course is Maclaren. Hers is grey but this mom is going gaga for stripes lately.

The Making Of

Note the black eye in the last two pictures. Unfortunately my daughter is my daughter. I walk into walls and she walked into a table. She was busy looking at the "Happy Feets 2" poster in the mall and before either one can realize it, bam, both mommy and baby were crying. I need to take her to see the movie just for that reason. On to the point of this post.

I signed up on cafemom.com not too long ago and during one post someone mentioned being interested in how my kid dresses. They brought up a great point also as to how girls are being dressed like women and how some t-shirts geared towards girls are sexist. These tees for tots that show boys being "smart like daddy" and girls are just "pretty like mommy" never pushing the fact that we are smart as well are nothing new.

 Her style is fun sometimes wacky and that is okay. I let her chose her own clothes (I give her options) and sometimes she just wants to do her own thing. She does have a lot of Princess gear and being a girly girl is never a bad thing. She can wear all the "pretty like mommy" tees she wants (insert wink here) but encouragement about her strength and her smarts will come from home because it starts here. Sure, she is too pretty to do math but she can count (in two languages, thank you). She is too cool for books but she loves stories and always has one in her hand. So what if a store makes tees that seem sexist? Creating the powerful woman she is meant to be will be my job and maybe one day she may even tell someone "that's DR Princess to you!" What are your thoughts?

The Denim Debate

My daughter is 2. Her denim collection is 3x her size. Okay, so I exaggerate a bit. I know a kid her age should not have some many pairs of jeans but in my defense, they were hand me downs from my sister in law. We received a few pairs for her birthday but I exchanged them for leggings the very next day as Analiese hardly wears jeans anyway and she has a million & one pairs. She really doesn't share her mother's love of denim. What do you think is an acceptable amount to own?
