Babies, Cut Outs and Muffin Tops

Dress (similar) | Shoes (old) | Watch

I went to my sister in law's baby shower this past weekend and I finally fit into the dress I bought for Valentine's Day! The cut outs were not as forgiving but daily kale smoothies for breakfast and a little working out finally paid off. No more muffin top but I did have one, maybe two cupcakes. Okay, I killed three, whatever.

Life has been extremely busy lately. I've been working lately a full time schedule outside the home when normally I stick to a freelancer's schedule, running back to have an hour or two with my tot and then working on my side projects until the wee hours of the night. I'm exhausted and I'm sure most of you have noticed my lack of consistent posting lately. I've decided to cut back and post only 3 days a week for the time being as I need to find more time for my family, work and for heaven's sake some sleep! I've updated my editorial calendar to reflect all changes. Tomorrow's post will be today's missing outfit post, see you then.

Nailed it! {My 1st Review}

So like I mentioned last week, I would be reviewing a few products I received starting with the Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color which I have fallen in love with. Well, almost.

I love how easy it is to use just a basic polish and a magnet that you have to use fast before the nail color dries. After that, it dries quickly and looks stunning. It chips just as quickly. I used my best top coat and within two days my right hand was already chipping and the left the following day. Would I use it again? Absolutely, for something quick and fun. Would I buy it? Yes, actually despite its lack of longevity.

Sally Hansen did it again. I use hand sanitizer more often than most especially when I have back to back clients and cannot wash my hands between make up appointments, hand sanitizer is my best friend and my skin's worst enemy. I love having lotion with me to keep my hands decent but everything I have is either too greasy, too light or worse. Some have so much fragrance that it makes me light headed as well as my client. This one is rich enough, a soft scent and my cuticles are looking much, much better. Would I buy it? Yes hands down!

No doubt that Hawaiian Tropic has the best scented sunscreen on the market and when I opened it, all I wanted to do was clear my schedule and head to the beach. It felt light, smooth and smelled great. I personally prefer a higher SPF and they do sell more than just a 12 or 30 but of course to save I usually just use kids products since I buy so much for my tot. Did I like it, sure but would I buy it? Probably not.

Clear shampoo and condition is by far my favorite product in the box. I have suffered from really bad dandruff since my baby was born. I have tried everything under the sun and every tip given. Honestly, with regular hot oil scalp treatments and this shampoo, my hair has never looked better neither has my all black outfits for work! I actually tried this once before and I liked it but never bought it. This time I am going straight to the store. Aside from that, my hair feels clean, bouncy and my curls aren't as frizzy in the humidity. I think that after years of searching, I finally found "the one".

Other items in the box was an Always|Tampax package with panty liners, pads and of course tampons all wrapped in a little bag. My toddler stole the bag and in all honesty everything else are products that I know, love and use though I prefer Tampax pearl. There is no image for that here. After all, products reviewed here had to be used to be reviewed. Ewww. There was also a Banana Nut Bread bar from Quaker Oats that I handed to my mom. It's not my cup of tea but she liked it. We don't have similar tastes buds so there.

I'm happy that I got to try a few new products thanks to Influenster. I found some that I loved and others that were nice to try but in the end just not for me. Yay for my first review post!

Disclaimer:  I did not receive monetary compensation for this post but all items were c/o. All thoughts are my own and cannot be bought. XO

Under the Influence

This little gift, the Summer Beauty VoxBox came in the mail for me via Influenster. While I have already tried the shampoo previously, I was very excited to receive another sample of it and all the new goodies that came with. I'll be posting my review soon. I have a lot to say. Stay tuned.

Being Knocked Up Never Looked So Cool

Dress | Vest | Shoes | Bag | Earrings

Michigan Ave is known as a huge tourist spot. With all the amazing shopping and dining options, why wouldn't it be? It is also a great source of inspiration from the Korean women with impeccable style to the pregnant woman with the heavy british accent who wore this exact outfit. Well, almost. I haven't done a maternity post in a while and so when I saw this look I first kicked myself for not having my camera on me and then I quickly jotted down the items I immediately recognized. Too bad these Miu Miu high tops are sold out. Man, being knocked up never looked so cool.

The Taste of Comfort

It is Taste of Chicago time in my beautiful city. That can only mean one thing...traffic jams! Seriously, for me it means turkey legs, corn on the cob and funnel cakes. It also means a lot of walking so while I want to look great, I also want to feel great also. I cannot stress how painful it is for me to see women at these types of events wearing...gulp...heels. I do not care if it is a wedge, show some love for your feet. Be comfortable out there, be carefree and wear something a bit loose. You must be comfortable when you pass out and into a food coma. Cheers.

Summer of Birthdays

In my family, there are a ton of birthdays in the summer including mine, another year...ahem...younger. I kicked off the celebration with an at home manicure thanks to press on nails by Kiss and a serious nail file as well as false lashes by MAC. The highlight, fitting into a dress that I purchased 10 years ago and a beautiful outdoor dinner at Japonais with my husband.

Sneak Peak

I've been seeing these "teaser" images on Facebook from photographer Joshua Alexandre Haines the past few days. This is one of my favorites and of course, the styling was done by yours truly. I had a blast on this shoot and cannot wait to show you more.

Classic Style

source

I'm not usually a sneaker gal unless I'm eyeballing a pair of high tops but these seem like a classic addition. I'm very much in favor in something that will last quite some time in my closet. I always have been and always be a Keds sort of gal.

Full Face

I should have photographed this look when it was fresh but this is what life really looks like when you have been at work for 8 hours and traffic has kept you away from home a few more.

This was my look for work. I know, I know...most make up artists have a full face, well, guess what? As do I! A full face of make up doesn't mean a full caked on face and your face should always look natural. My favorite part of the day is when a client comes in and says she doesn't want foundation or even much make up because she want to look natural. Then she adds "kinda like your look!" Well you are in for a surprise because I have it ALL ON. It is really all about the application. Here is a list of all that I am wearing.

1. Corrector in Peach and Concealer in Warm Natural with setting powder Pale Yellow
2. Stick Foundation in Honey
3. Bronzer in Deep
4. Blush in Pale Pink and a shimmer brick in Nectar to highlight
5. Blush Lipstick (discontinued) with Crystal Gloss
6. Navajo Shadow all over and Champagne Quartz just on the lid
8. Mascara in Extreme Party with Lash Glamour layered on
9. Brows with Steel Shadow and Clear Brow Gel

Funny thing is with all these products and all the steps, the look is in fact very simple, easy and fast but for sure a very full face while still looking the healthiest and most natural you! Happy Beauty Tuesday.
